Career:
For I was not originally born in the mountains, people always ask me: „How come you started skiing?” I often say that I have a very ambitious father, who bequeathed me a lot. Actually it was my mother who taught me skiing when I was three years old. She could hardly remain on skis herself so I wonder how I learned it. Then my father took over. This was the advanced lesson, so-to-say. As I had elder siblings, I had to be quick to catch up. That´s how it all began.
A few years later I found a good ski club, the TVN Wels, who promoted junior ski sport very well. It turned out that I was not that clumsy and showing ambition. So I did and passed the entrance examination for the ski school Windischgarsten. To the disappointment of my mother, who had rather kept me at home.
There I had a great time with my sport and my friends, which had a positive impact on my competition results: I was doing well in my own county. However, in national competitions I got always hit on the head. Each time, I admired those who were standing on the top of the podium.
When I was 15, I went to a ski and business school. My technique improved more and more and so finally I became a member of the Austrian national junior team (ÖSV). Certainly I had my ups and downs. Three years later I finished school and started continual training. Finally I joined the European Cup team, and with it, I took a crucial hurdle.
Since then, there always had been one or the other small injury, which couldn´t prevent me from my sport. In last winter´s European Cup (99/00) I could attain a fixed placement in downhill. But unluckily I had another injury, at the second downhill training run in Lake Louise.
This is where my future begins. I do not know what it might bring, hopefully a fast recovery and many more World Cup races.
